Ramanthali
Ramanthali is a coastal town in Kannur District of Kerala. It is on the shores of Arabian Sea near Ezhimala Hills(Famous for Naval Academy). Payyannur is around 7 km north-east of Ramanthali. Narayankannur Temple, Sankaranarayana Temple, Lurdmatha Church and Juma Masjid are the important shrines located here. Graveyard of the 17 martyrs who laid their life fighting the Portuguese invaders is housed here. Punnakadavupuzha (river) passes through Ramanthali. Kannur is 30 km south of Ramanthali. Mangalore Airport (106 km north) is the closest airport. Calicut Airport is 132 km south of Ramanthali. Payyanur Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
Ramanthali Panchayath formed in the year 1939. The panchayath, situated 7km from payyannur and 45km from Kannur, is now administrating by congress lead UDF. Both LDF and UDF holds equal seats and UDF came in administartion through lot. The present President is Mithale muhammed Haji of IUML and the Vice President is Kannan Ramanthali of Congress (I)
